James Franco in Danny Boyle’s ‘127 Hours’

Posted by Travis On January - 7 - 2010

Danny Boyle’s next film is titled ‘127 Hours’ based on the true story of Aron Ralston who had to cut off his own arm after being trapped under a bolder for five days. In the hands of a less capable director I would fear for this project but I think Boyle will pull it off and make an amazing film. James Franco has been cast as Ralston.

Posted by Jack On December - 22 - 2009

The Dickhouse team are getting back together for the third Jackass film, which will be shot in 3D. Johnny Knoxville recently posted on JackassWorld that they were testing out the new 3D cameras to see if they would actually use them, and it appears as if it’s now going ahead! The movie will begin filming late January and the movie will be directed by Jeff Tremaine, who directed the previous two films.

Johnny Knoxville is excited about the promises of the new 3D equipment.

“We’re going to take the same 3D technology James Cameron used in ‘Avatar’ and stick it up Steve O’s butt. We’re taking stupid to a whole new dimension.”

Jackass 3D will be released by Paramount Pictures in cinemas on October 15, 2010.

Bond 23 is “shocking”

Posted by Jack On December - 21 - 2009

Peter Morgan, one of the screenwriters for the 23rd James Bond film teased fans about the upcoming movie on the MI6 website.

From July until October this year, Morgan was writing the first draft of Bond 23 – the third outing for Daniel Craig as 007. “It’s a shocking story”, he said after admitting he couldn’t give anything more away.

Being on the 007 team is a new experience for Morgan. “Bond creates a hysteria around it, one that I haven’t previous known”, he said. “It’s a magnet for publicity – everyone wants to know what’s going on with the new Bond”.

However, work on this Bond film has been put on hold until the sale of MGM.

Weaver on Ghostbusters 3!

Posted by Jack On December - 12 - 2009

In a recent interview with Channel 4 regarding James Cameron’s Avatar, Sigourney Weaver was asked about Ghostbusters 3, and gives a hint that it is indeed happening and that Bill Murray is on board.

“I’m afraid to say that it *is* happening, I hope people are excited about that,” she said. “I don’t know if I’m going to be in it, I have gotten a couple of calls asking ‘would you read the script.’”

“I know that my little son, Oscar – who was kidnapped from me – I think he has grown up to be a ghostbuster,”

Ghostbusters 3 has been discussed almost since the release of the second sequel in 1989. Reports indicated that Bill Murray had held the film back from production due to not being happy with the script, but this may mean that this time around, they have a good script that Murray is very much interested in.

“I might be in it and I see nothing wrong with being in it, although I don’t think I will have a big part in it. I think Bill Murray has a little more to do with it – he might be a ghost.”

“There’s a couple of other characters: Elrond, who was played by Hugo Weaving [in the original films], and there’s a possibility of Galadriel, who was played by Cate Blanchett.”

Peter Jackson went on to say that they’re on target to begin filming in the previously reported first half on next year.

The Hobbit Begins Casting!

Posted by Jack On December - 9 - 2009

Heatvision got the chance to speak with Peter Jackson about the upcoming film, The Hobbit, in which he stated that they will begin casting for all roles (except Gandalf) this week. He also stated that he is not neccessarily on the lookout for big stars to cast.

“What we’ve done over the years is discover a lot of interesting actors, like Orlando Bloom (in ‘Rings’), Kate Winslet (in ‘Heavenly Creatures’), Saoirse Ronan (in ‘The Lovely Bones’). So if you start looking and auditioning seriously, it’s amazing what incredible talent you’ll find out there.”

Peter Jackson also commented on the rumours that the production has been delayed.

“It’s not,” he said, adding that the script for the first movie is completed and that collaborators Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and del Toro are in the middle of writing the second. They hope to deliver drafts to Warner Bros. and MGM, which are jointly backing the films, around Christmastime.

“We were always planning to shoot around April or May next year, and as far as I’m aware, we’re pretty much on target for that. It depends on how quickly the studio greenlights the film. It’s not in our hands. But as long as we‘re shooting next year, we’re fine.”

The casting is being handled out of Los Angeles and London.

Ryan Reynolds Talks Green Lantern!

Posted by Vic On December - 2 - 2009

I’ve always been a huge fan of Green Lantern. When I first heard Ryan Reynolds was cast as Green Lantern my first reaction was “huh?”

But the more and more I think about it the more it grows on me. From the interviews I have read the guy seems to really value and respect comics. Even though Deadpool was butchered, I don’t think that was his fault, he made a great Wade Wilson. I actually think the only tolerable scenes in the very disappointing X-men Origins: Wolverine were the ones with Wade Wilson.

When asked by MTV about the actual Green Lantern suit Reynolds offered little details, but rather provided an interesting analogy.

“I think you walk away from this first film, and the moments that you remember and the moments that mean so much to you, not unlike ‘Iron Man,’ are the moments where the guy’s not in the suit.”

Reynolds went on to describe how tough it is to balance those moments with the epic space adventure we’ve come to expect from the Green Lantern character.

“That to me is the tough thing to get right. And that’s something that they did get right [in 'Iron Man']. You see why this guy’s in the suit, and that’s what’s interesting to me. Not that he is in the suit, but why.”

When asked how much of the plot will be an origin story, Reynolds responded,

“It is [an origin story] to a certain degree, but it’s not a labored origin story, where the movie [truly] begins in the third act. The movie starts when it starts. We find out Hal is the guy fairly early on, and the adventure begins.”

Sounds to me like they are mostly basing this flick off the Green Lantern story arc Emerald Dawn, required reading for any Green Lantern or comic fan in general.

Todd Phillips talks ‘The Hangover 2′

Posted by Jack On December - 1 - 2009

As expected in Hollywood, a sequel is being written for ‘The Hangover’, which made a successful $459.3 million worldwide.

The Director Todd Phillips told Entertainment Weekly that while the first film was filming, they already had a plan for a sequel and before the film was released, Warner Bros. came to him and said “let’s do a sequel”.

“What people loved about The Hangover was not Las Vegas or the bachelor party but these three characters,” Phillips says. “I think you can take those characters and put them in other situations, and you don’t need the sell of Vegas and a bachelor party and all that other stuff.”

So the first film won’t be in Vegas… will it be in Reno? Hopefully we’ll see some sort of plot information soon.
