Seann William Scott in American Pie reboot

Posted by Jack On February - 22 - 2010

ComingSoon is reporting that Seann William Scott, who was in the first 3 American Pie films, has been talking to the creators about the upcoming reboot.

“I’ve been talking to them about it and there’s a possibility,” he told us. “We came up with an awesome idea and I’m kind of at the point where I’m already known as that character forever anyways. As much as I want to do a part like Christoph Waltz in ‘Inglourious Basterds,’ I did ‘American Pie’ three times and then versions of that in ten other movies. If it makes sense and if it makes people laugh than maybe.”

We’re not sure on the details of the reboot, but we’ll keep you up to date with everything we know.

William Shatner to Star in Sh*t My Dad Says

Posted by Jack On February - 20 - 2010

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the now famous Twitter account @shitmydadsays is to become a TV pilot, with William Shatner playing the larger-than-life dad.

Justin Halpern setup the Twitter account back in August and now has 1.17 million followers, which has inspired CBS to make a TV show based on the wild quotes by Justin’s dad.

“Will & Grace” creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick will be executive producers on the show. Justin Halpern co-wrote the script with Patrick Schumacker. The title is expected to change if the pilot goes ahead into a series.

Spielberg may join Dinosaur TV Series

Posted by Jack On February - 17 - 2010

Variety is reporting that Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin are in negotiations with Fox about joining their upcoming drama project “Terra Nova” which is described as following a family from 100 years in the future, back in time 150 million years to prehistoric times which will include dinosaurs.

The trade adds that the project would involve such elaborate sets and visual effects that there’s been talk of greenlighting it directly to series production rather than a pilot because it would be too expensive to shut down and start up again during the downtime between pilot and first season’s episodes.

We can only hope that if Spielberg attaches himself to the project, that it makes him want to make the long-awaited Jurassic Park IV. It’s time for it.

Posted by Jack On February - 13 - 2010

JurassicParkIV.org is reporting that Frank Marshall posted on his Twitter that he has not heard anything about a new Jurassic Park trilogy that Joe Johnston has been saying is happening.

I have not heard anything about a new JP trilogy…

So what does this mean? Is the new trilogy happening? I certainly hope so! Right now we can only wait for more information which should be coming further into the production of Joe Johnston’s Captain America.

More Jurassic Park 4 News! No Dinosaurs With Guns!

Posted by Jack On February - 8 - 2010

Drew McWeeny from HitFix (who reviewed the William Monahan & John Sayles Jurassic Park 4 script back in 2004) got a chance to speak to Joe Johnston regarding the fourth movie. Joe confirmed that the old script is not being used and that they have a new idea.

Drew:  Is that still in the offing, or have you moved on now to a new idea?

Joe:  We have.  There is an idea now for number four that is different from the first three, and that is more or less the beginning of a new trilogy, in that it sends the whole franchise off in a new direction.  It’s not about the dinosaur park anymore.  It’s about all-new characters.  So Steven’s busy right now with the stuff he’s doing and I’ve got to do “Captain America,” but hopefully afterwards, we’ll find time to develop it.  And really… it’s something different that we haven’t seen before in the “Jurassic Park” world.

It sounds very exciting, and we can only hope it develops after Captain America. Joe did go on to say that Spielberg is busy with other projects but he does indeed want this to happen.

Drew:  I’m sorry we won’t see the Sayles/Monahan idea.

Joe:  Well, you know, Universal and Steven will want to keep making these movies as long as they’re successful, and who knows?  We may see the Monahan/Sayles version come back.

This is fantastic news for all Jurassic Park fans, and people who generally like the franchise.

Transformers 3D?

Posted by Jack On February - 3 - 2010

Paramount talked to Variety about some of their films getting converted into 3D and that Transformers 3 may be filmed in 3D.

Bay’s next project is “Transformers 3,” and there have been discussions among Bay, Paramount and Industrial Light & Magic about going 3D with the pic. The big stumbling block is the extra time required to do production and visual effects in 3D, as the movie’s release date is already set. Having the pic post-converted could alleviate that problem.

Transformers 3D, as it may be, is set for release on July 1, 2011.
