Avatar Blu-Ray/DVD Release on Earth Day!

Posted by Jack On February - 19 - 2010

James Cameron talked to The Wall Street Journal about the upcoming release of Avatar on Blu-Ray and DVD. While the first release won’t be in 3D, they’ll be on both Blu-Ray and DVD and release on April 22, which is Earth Day.

“That’s our plan as of right now, and that’ll be pretty much bare bones,” he said. “And then we’ll do a value-added DVD and a 3-D Blu-ray in I think November sometime.”

Cameron also discussed an Avatar sequel which seems like it will actually happen, but he said he wants to do it “cheaper and faster” which should please fans.

“We’re going to widen the universe in quotes, meaning the envelope of the setting of the story.”

We’ll be reporting Avatar 2 news as it comes in!

No 3D Avatar Release plus Avatar 2 Information

Posted by Jack On February - 3 - 2010

CEO of News Corporation Rupert Murdoch said during his quarterly earnings call on Tuesday that he spoke to James Cameron regarding Avatar 2.

Cameron “has ideas about it,” he said, adding: “We will be pushing one.” The Hollywood Reporter says Murdoch cautioned analysts not to “hold your breath for another one” in a possible reference to Cameron projects often taking a long time to come to fruition

He also added that the Blu-Ray and DVD release of Avatar will not be in 3D because the technology is not developed enough. However, he did say that a 3D release may be down the road.

JP & TLW Coming to Blu-Ray This Year?!

Posted by Jack On January - 29 - 2010

Word is coming in from the website Planete HD that Jurassic Park and the sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park will be hitting Blu-Ray this year! We’ve heard numerous rumours about this release from everyone but Universal Studios, but it appears to be right around the corner. The site reports that the Netherlands branch of Universal Studios Home Entertainment has listed Jurassic Park and The Lost World for release on Blu-Ray on November 4, 2010. Jurassic Park 3 has not been mentioned however.

Let’s hope we get an even bigger announcement from the studio itself soon!

Jaws 19 in 3D! On ‘Back to the Future’ that is…

Posted by Jack On January - 5 - 2010

WorstPreviews is reporting that there will be a special short film on the Back to the Future 5-disc Blu-Ray set which is of Jaws 19, and will be in 3D.

If you remember in Back to the Future part 2, they mock the fact that Jaws has spawned multiple bad sequels.

The Blu-Ray set will be available in July of this year. Hopefully we’ll also see the Jurassic franchise get some HD treatment.
