In a recent interview with Channel 4 regarding James Cameron’s Avatar, Sigourney Weaver was asked about Ghostbusters 3, and gives a hint that it is indeed happening and that Bill Murray is on board.
“I’m afraid to say that it *is* happening, I hope people are excited about that,” she said. “I don’t know if I’m going to be in it, I have gotten a couple of calls asking ‘would you read the script.’”
“I know that my little son, Oscar – who was kidnapped from me – I think he has grown up to be a ghostbuster,”
Ghostbusters 3 has been discussed almost since the release of the second sequel in 1989. Reports indicated that Bill Murray had held the film back from production due to not being happy with the script, but this may mean that this time around, they have a good script that Murray is very much interested in.
“I might be in it and I see nothing wrong with being in it, although I don’t think I will have a big part in it. I think Bill Murray has a little more to do with it – he might be a ghost.”
