New Public Enemies pictures!

Posted by Bogdan On January - 31 - 2009

It seems this little collage has been around for awhile but since this movie is bound to be a really good one this year. Bringing some great actors together and under the helm of legendary director Michael Mann it’s sure to be quite a spectacle to see. The film stars Johnny Depp as bank robber John Dillinger and Christian Bale as FBI agent Melvin Purvis. Here’s the full synopsis from the film per Universal Pictures, followed by the image.

In the action-thriller Public Enemies, acclaimed filmmaker Michael Mann directs Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Academy Award® winner Marion Cotillard in the incredible and true story of legendary Depression-era bank robber John Dillinger (Depp)the charismatic bank robber whose lightning raids made him the number one target of J. Edgar Hoovers fledgling FBI and its top agent, Melvin Purvis (Bale), and a folk hero to much of the downtrodden public. No one could stop Dillinger. No jail could hold him. His charm and audacious jailbreaks endeared him to almost everyonefrom his girlfriend Billie Frechette (Cotillard) to an American public who had no sympathy for the banks that had plunged the country into the Depression. But while the adventures of Dillinger’s ganglater including the sociopathic Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham)thrilled many, Hoover (Billy Crudup) hit on the idea of exploiting the outlaw’s capture as a way to elevate his Bureau of Investigation into the national police force that became the FBI. He made Dillinger America’s first Public Enemy Number One. Hoover sent in Purvis, the dashing “Clark Gable of the FBI”. However, Dillinger and his gang outwitted and outgunned Purvis’ men in wild chases and shootouts. Only after importing a crew of Western ex-lawmen (newly baptized as agents) who were real gunfighters and orchestrating epic betrayals from the infamous “Lady in Red” to the Chicago crime boss Frank Nittiwere Purvis and the FBI able to close in on Dillinger.

Fox to Finance ‘Narnia’

Posted by Travis On January - 29 - 2009

After ‘Prince Caspian’ Disney decided not to make a third Narnia film with Walden Media. However it looks as if 20th Century Fox has stepped in to finance “The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader”.

From Veriety

One month after Disney decided to pull the plug on co-financing the third movie in Walden Media’s “Chronicles of Narnia” series, Walden has found a new partner in 20th Century Fox.

Fox, which was entitled to first crack at “The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader” after Disney dropped out because of the shared Fox Walden marketing and distribution label, has made a commitment to develop the project. The two sides are still working out budget and script issues, but the hope is to shoot the film at the end of summer for a holiday 2010 release through the Fox Walden label.

Fox 2000 will spearhead development and production matters from the Fox front. Topper Elizabeth Gabler had pursued the “Narnia” franchise but was beaten out by Walden. The Century City studio seems to be an ideal fit for the “Narnia” books given that it’s been looking for a family-friendly, lit-based franchise for years — Fox 2000’s “Eragon” failed to catch on with audiences and died after one installment.

Terminator Salvation preview & concept art!

Posted by Bogdan On January - 29 - 2009

We’re a little behind on this, but the good folks over at Latino Review have posted an article talking about a 20 minute preview they got a chance to look. They also managed to grab some snapshots of concept art from the film including many of the film’s robots. For the whole article and the rest of the pictures head on over to their site via the link in the bottom or by clicking the image. There’s some really interesting artwork to see and should be interesting to see if these are incorporated into the film itself.

Updated! – Super Bowl Sunday!

Posted by Bogdan On January - 29 - 2009

UPDATE:  This was posted over at Michael Bay’s official forum;

So,

The Super Bowl spot is coming Sunday in the third Quarter (few minutes into the quarter slot). The spot will be online a few minutes after that – The full length teaser trailer will only be on Friday the Thirteenth. It will not hit the internet until a week later. The Teaser really only teases stuff – I’m holding so much stuff back from the final trailers because I personally hate going to movies where you have seen it all.

Tell me what you think,

Michael

A little reminder to all out there who might have forgotten but this week-end, on Sunday the 43rd Super Bowl takes place. If you don’t care for this event, or football in general, i suggest you keep in mind that this is when most big upcoming films decide to advertise their movies. I’ve heard so far we’re getting the first official glimpses for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, a new Fast & Furious trailer, new Terminator Salvation and Star Trek tv spots as well. Keep in mind, besides the first two the other ones haven’t been confirmed yet so keep a look out for those as well and possibly many more i’m forgetting about.  We will be covering whatever gets shown and you can expect to find it here as soon as the footage gets released.
