Vin Diesel signs for third xXx

Posted by Travis On September - 15 - 2008

While the box-office numbers Babylon A.D. may not so hot Vin Diesel has made some very good career moves this year, with the trailer for the 4th Fast and Furious film released a few weeks ago Vin Diesel is sure to get a lot of publicity over the next few months. To top off Mr. Diesel’s franchise reboots he has just signed to do a third xXx film (while there are two films in the series Diesel only appeared in the first one). So despite troubles on set and at the box office with Babylon A.D, this has actually been a very, Rob Cohen is also set to direct.   Empire has the full story.

Incase you are unfamiliar with the plot of xXx it’s about the extreme sports athlete, Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) who is recruited to go on a dangerous mission for the government.

‘Body Of Lies’ posters

Posted by Travis On September - 15 - 2008

There are two new posters for Ridley Scott’s “Body of Lies” online- well there not new but I have only seen them in gritty cellphone type pictures hanging in movie theater lobbies.

“Based on Washington Post columnist David Ignatius’ 2007 novel about a CIA operative, Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio), who uncovers a lead on a major terrorist leader suspected to be operating out of Jordan. When Ferris devises a plan to infiltrate his network, he must first win the backing of cunning CIA veteran Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe) and the collegial, but perhaps suspect, head of Jordanian intelligence. Although ostensibly his allies, Ferris questions how far he can really trust these men without putting his entire operation – and his life – on the line.” -behindthefilms.net admin

The Day the Earth Stood Still clip

Posted by Travis On September - 15 - 2008

An 8 min clip of “The Day the Earth Stood Still” premiered last night directly fallowing an encore of “Fringe”.

Check it out here.
(After the clip there’s also a teaser for “Saw” and Pixar’s “Up”, I’m not sure why).

“The Day the Earth Stood Still” is a remake of the 1951 Robert Wise film by the same name, apparently this version will stay relatively true to the original version however I’m sure filmmakers have taken certain creative liberties.

The film opens on December 12th of this year. It is directed by Scott Derrickson and stars Keanu Reeves as Klaatu, Jennifer Connelly, Kathy Bates, John Cleese and Jaden Smith.

Eagle Eye Free Fall

Posted by Travis On September - 13 - 2008

There’s a sweet new game online which is a promotional for “Eagle Eye” D.J. Caruso’s new film.
Basically the game puts you in the movie experience so you’ll get a call from a mysterious woman with instructions, your computer will be “hacked” and you will be give a few tasks to carry out. It’s pretty sweet and it only takes about 10 minuets.

Play it here, it worked for me on Safari, I have heard it may not work of Firefox in which case you can use Internet Explorer.

“Eagle Eye” is biased on an original idea by Steven Spielberg and stars Shia LaBeouf, Michelle Monaghan, and Billy Bob Thornton it hits theaters on September 26th.

The International

Posted by Travis On September - 13 - 2008

The trailer for “The International” has hit the web, and it’s well, I don’t want to say disappointing but not what I was expecting however before you get two down about this upcoming film directed by Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run), listen to what people are saying about it;

Pieries saw an advanced screening and called the movie “brilliant”, “the definition a GREAT script. Quality film making.” But warns that “it is NOT for everyone.” … “The movie is 80% MICHAEL CLAYTON (much better though) and 20% BOURNE!”

-/film

80% Michael Clayton, 20% Bourne?!?! That’d get me into a theater!

“The International” is about an INTERPOL agent Louis Salinger (Clive Owen), who discovers that one of the world’s largest banks may behind a lot of arms dealings and military coups. Louis along with Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Eleanor Whitman (Naomi Watts) try to trace the money from the bank to it’s final location into the hands of the corrupt and power hungry while there own lives become increasingly more at risk.

“The International” will be released in Germany on February 12th then in North America on the 13th with the rest of the world rolling out over the next month.

Changeling

Posted by Travis On September - 12 - 2008

Today the trailer for Clint Eastwood’s “Changeling” hit the web. “Changeling” stars Angelina Jolie as Christine Collins who’s son is returned to her after mysteriously disappearing, however it’s only a short time before Christine begins to realize that the boy returned to her is not her real son. This leads her to confront members of a very corrupt police department as well as many other skeptics as she desperately searches for her missing son with the aid of Rev. Gustav Briegleb (John Malkovich) who understands just how much Christine is up against. The film also stars Jeffrey Donovan, Colm Feore and Amy Ryan.

The film is biased on a true story which occurred in LA from 1928-1930. I did a little bit of research on it and some pretty disturbing facts to it. At one point in time Christine Collins was placed in a mental institution when she refused to accept the new boy as her son (she was released a few days later), however it caused a rather large scandal with the LAPD.

“Changeling” got a lot of very positive buzz at the Cannes Film Festival this year, and it hits theaters October 31st of this year (most likely kicking off Oscar season).

Max Payne gets R, director not happy

Posted by Travis On September - 7 - 2008

Max Payne was just rated R by the MPAA. The studio and apparently director, John Moore, were aiming for a PG-13 which is what everybody including the public assumed the film would be rated. However the film was just slapped with an R rating (I assume it’s going to be a soft R), having not yet scene the film I can’t say if this was a good decision or not.
